MUNCHKIN - May 1998 - Aug. 2011

To Those of you who got to know my little
Toy Fox Terrier Munchkin through my earlier blogs
and through her own blog spot, titled:
"MUNCHKIN'S SATURDAY CORNER",
I am sad to say that Munchkin passed away this morning
at 5:30 am, quietly in her sleep next to me in bed.
She suffered a massive stroke yesterday morning when we
went out for our daily morning walk. The stroke left her
hind legs totally paralyzed.

Oh Abouna, I am SO sad to hear this. I've had animals and know that they become as one of the family to us. Losing a pet is as painful as losing a loved one. I pray the Lord comfort you and keep you as you grieve this precious little friend.

Thank you Paula. Right now I am taking it very hard, but at least she isn't suffering any more.

This is so sad Abouna. Sorry to hear of the sad news. Pets become apart of the family so I know this must be extremely hard for you. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Bishop,
Please accept our deepest sympathy at the loss of your beloved puppy, Munchkin. I feel your pain. We lost our two miniature poodles 15 years ago, one from cancer and one from kidney disease. It is indeed like losing a child. I still think of them daily and miss them. My wife said that they are in Heaven awaiting us...and I believe that. God bless you. Think of the good times and memories. We travelled the USA with our babies and pampered them shamefully. They were a blessing to our lives.

Indy, I believe they are in heaven also. I also believe that our pets, especially dogs, were created by God to teach us humans how to be more loving and accepting of others.

Munchkin went every where with me, and she was never on a leash. Where ever I went she followed never more than two steps behind. The only time you would ever hear her bark was when we were home and someone came in.

Prior to Munchkin, I had a Mini Rat Terrier, named Baby who was the same way, never on a leash but always close by. Baby lived to be 19 years old, she passed 9 years ago, i month before I got Munchkin.

yes, they most certainly are a blessing in our lives.

Teresa, for those of us who truly love our pets, the most certainly are as much a part of our families as any human member. I never thought of Munchkin (or my first fur baby, "Baby") as 'pets' or dogs for that matter. They were just simply Munchkin and Baby, as much a part of the family as my four sons.

God bless you reverend. We're a dog lover family here, so I know it is always hard to lose a faithful friend...

Silver, Munchkin most certainly was faithful, as was my first fur baby, a Mini Rat Terrier named Baby, who died at the age of 19 a month before I got Munchkin. Believe it or not, both of those little girls had NEVER been on a leash, they both followed me where ever I went when I took them out for walks. People always asked me; "How did you train them to stay right with you without them running off?" I tell them that I did not train them, they just did it on their own. Both Baby and Munchkin came from abusive backgrounds and once they knew I would never hurt them, they just stuck right by me.

Oh, Abouna...I am so terribly sorry for your loss. I know how much you loved little Munchkin. I know our Heavenly Father will get you through this difficult time and loss.

She truly was a special little dog, and I enjoyed her blog.

Rest in blissful peace, Munchkin.

Thank you Leticia. You have no idea just how lonely it is around here now that Munchkin is gone. I am trying to find either another Toy Fox Terrier female or Mini Rat Terrier Female, but would you believe that all of a sudden, there are no more pet shops left in my area where one can just go in and buy a pet of any kind? Oh sure, we have Pet Co and Pet Smart, but you cannot just walk in and buy a pet. Both PetCo and PetSmart are now connected to our local animal shelter and you now have to 'adopt' your pet. To do so, they give you a rather long questionnaire that you have to fill out in which they want all kinds of personal information about you, plus you have to list the names, addresses and phone numbers of all your neighbors so that they can call them to get information about you.

I refuse to do that, so unless I can find a private owner or a breeder who will sell to me directly, I won't be able to get one.

I looked a lot of on-line pet adoption sites and they are just as intrusive.

I never knew it was that difficult to adopt a pet. I suppose they have to be careful because of the uprising in animal abuse.

Ask around and at church if anyone can find the dog you want. Don't give up, friend.

MK, She was a real sweetie and I miss her something awful. I love her as much as I love my sons. My couch seems empty without her.

Thank you for your kind words.
